In the last year I had the pleasure to make a trip to LA for 10 days. We stayed in West Hollywood and enjoyed being able to walk to many of the classic spots of interest for designers, shoppers, and tourists!
A stroll in the Californian sun is such a treat and I was able get to Paramount studios, still in its original Hollywood location, to see the Schindler House, the first classic modernist bungalow built by an architect recently arrived from Europe in 1922.
I mooched down Melrose Avenue checking out the cool interior shops, such as Paola Lenti and the Paul Smith pink wall.
There were many architectural gems to visit from faded Hollywood glamour on Sunset Boulevard to Frank Lloyd Wright’s designs for High society.
History in abundance from the gargantuan galleries and gardens at the Huntington to the fascinating treasures at LACMA.
One of the most interesting aspects was just walking the streets of West Hollywood and enjoying the many styles of private residences from art deco, fairy castles, to bang up to date modernism.
In conclusion, I need to go back as there is so much to see and I have only just scratched the surface of life in California. I’ll be back soon!
